Davao City marks 18th anniversary of Sasa airport bombing


DAVAO CITY – The city government led the commemoration of the 18th anniversary of the Sasa Airport bombing here Friday.

Mayor Sara Duterte, together with the victims of the bombing and their families and the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), attended the ceremony at the old airport.

The bombing at the old Davao International Airport on March 4, 2003 claimed the lives of 22 individuals and injured dozens.

During her speech, Sara encouraged the public to remain vigilant and to report suspicious individuals.

"Last year, we emphasized the importance of creating a Culture of Security, and how each one of us can help protect the city from terrorism by participating in the four acts of the Culture of Security: To Volunteer, Report, Remind, and Participate," Duterte said in her speech.
