15-minute Bocaue-to-Sta. Maria travel time? Soon!

The travel time from Bocaue to Sta. Maria towns of Bulacan, and vice versa, is expected to be faster soon as the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) rushes the completion of the Phase 2 of the Ciudad de Victoria interchange Bypass Road.

The project, according to DPWH Secretary Mark Villar, connects the Manila North Road in Bocaue to the town of Sta. Maria.

This means an estimated 35-minute cut in travel time since motorists would skip passing the busy Governor F. Halili Road. Villar said the project extends the existing Phase 1 from Manila North Road to New Bocaue Municipal Hall in Philippine Arena to Marilao, and Bocaue Sta. Maria Bypass Road, with additional 42.8-meter bridge.

Roseller A. Tolentino, DPWH Central Luzon regional director, said the P501.5-million second phase is the last phase of the entire road project.

“With the completion of this segment, we will be able to reduce travel time from 50 minutes to only 15 minutes as compared to using the busy Governor F. Halili Road,” Tolentino said.

"This alternative road also decongests Bocaue Interchange, benefiting thousands of road users daily,” he added. Ciudad de Victoria interchange Bypass Road was implemented by the DPWH Regional 3 under a P762.3-million fund sourced from 2018 and 2019 General Appropriations Act (GAA).

The P260.8-Million Phase 1 of Ciudad de Victoria interchange Bypass Road, which involves the construction of 80.8-meter overpass bridge crossing the North Luzon Expressway and 500 meters of road, was completed in November 2019 in time for the Philippine hosting of 30th Southeast Asian Games with opening ceremony held at Philippine Arena.
