Non-medical frontliners, vulnerable sectors are priorities in Manila's AstraZeneca vaccine supply — Mayor Isko

Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso said non-medical frontline workers and members of the vulnerable sectors will be prioritized in the city government's vaccination drive using the COVID-19 vaccine from British-Swedish bio-pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca.

Domagoso said this is his compromise with the other groups included in the government's priority list because frontline health workers are being prioritized in the vaccine roll out using the COVID-19 vaccine made by Chinese pharmaceutical company Sinovac.

The other groups included in the Manila city government's priority list for the vaccine include senior citizens and other vulnerable sectors, uniformed personnel, and public school teachers.

On Jan. 11, the Manila city government secured an advance purchase of 800,000 COVID-19 vaccine doses from AstraZeneca that is seen to benefit 400,000 people.

Around 487,200 AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine doses arrived in the country on Thursday night, March 4.

This is the second batch of vaccines to arrive in the country after the 600,000 Sinovac doses it received on Sunday, Feb. 28.
