DFA: 27 more Filipinos abroad contracts COVID-19


Twenty seven more overseas Filipinos were afflicted with COVID-19 (coronavirus disease 2019), increasing the overall tally to 15,079, the Department of Foreign Affairs said on Friday.

Aside from the new cases, the DFA also recorded 13 new recoveries, and no new fatality among Filipinos abroad.

Of the total number, 4,520 are undergoing treatment, 9,526 have recovered and 1,033 died due to coronavirus infections.

Meanwhile, the DFA welcomed the arrival 279 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) from Kuwait onboard a DFA funded chartered flight.

This is the first chartered flight from Kuwait for 2021 in line with the Department's continuing commitment to repatriate Filipino nationals amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Upon their arrival, all the repatriates underwent proper briefing on the mandatory health protocols and were immediately brought to their respective hotel quarantine facilities.
