During the DA's virtual press briefing Thursday, March 4, Asec. Noel Reyes said that pork vendors in Dagonoy Market, Sta. Ana Market, and Mega Qmart have been selling cuts of liempo and kasim/ pigue at P300 per kilo and P270 per kilo, respectively.

"Ang presyo ay nasusundan naman po (The price complies with the price ceiling)," Reyes said, referring to Executive Order (EO) 124 issued by Malacañang. The directive set pork prices in the metropolis to P270 to P300 per kilo amid an apparent shortage of hogs.

Last Feb.23, price monitoring by the DA around metro markets showed that pork was sold for as high as P350 a kilo.

Reyes bared during the same presser that 7,409 heads of hogs were delivered to Metro Manila for surplus provinces on Wednesday, March 3 alone. He said that most of the live hogs were sourced from Region IV-A.

Some 35,508 kilos of fresh pork--this time from Region III--were also delivered to the metropolis the same day. The deliveries have been scattered to 32 wet markets.

According to the official, Metro Manila has received a total of 115,909 live hogs and 721,354 kilos of fresh pork since the supply augmentation began.
