No vaccine side effects for Abalos

Amid reports of mild side effects among early vaccinees of the China-donated CoronaVac, a person close to Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chairman Benhur Abalos says that the official is doing fine.

"OK naman po siya (He is doing OK)," MMDA Public Affairs Staff chief, Director II Sharon Gentalian told this reporter when asked Monday afternoon, March 1, how Abalos was doing.

Gentalian said in particular that Abalos didn't experience dizziness a few hours after he was inoculated with the Sinovac Biotech-manufactured, anti-coronavirus disease (COVID-19) drug.

The MMDA chairman was among the first Palace-appointed officials to be administered with CoronaVac during a "mini-rollout" of the vaccines at Philippine General Hospital (PGH) Monday morning.

Abalos's case as a vaccinee is different from most in that he had already contracted the dreaded COVID-19 back in July 2020. He recovered from his sickness.

Various reports have come out Monday afternoon saying that five staff members from the Veterans Memorial Medical Center and at least two cops have experienced dizziness and developed skin rashes after the receiving the vaccine.

Abalos earlier remarked that getting oneself vaccinated was a "patriotic duty" and a way to protect relatives and loved ones.

His mother, Corazon Abalos, died last January after testing positive for COVID-19.
