Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso on Friday, Feb. 26 announced that they finished distributing the food boxes on Thursday, Feb. 25.

The distribution of food boxes to each family in the city lasted for around two weeks, he said.

In his Capital Report, Domagoso said the distribution of food boxes this month was smooth and peaceful.

He also said that they will push themselves to distribute more food boxes in the coming months.

"Pipilitin natin na sa susunod na mga buwan na mabigyan ng kasiguraduhan ang mga Batang Maynila at pamilya nito na walang magugutom sa Maynila. Kakain tayo (In the coming months, we will ensure that Manileños and their families will not go hungry. We will all be able to eat)," he said.

"Sa ganitong paraan man lamang ay iyong maramdaman na mayroon kayong kaagapay na gobyerno… maging bahagi kami ng hapag-kainan ninyo (If only through this, you will feel that you have a government that supports you… that we will have a place in your dining table)," he added.

The Manila city government launched the Food Security Program on Feb. 10. A fund of around P3 billion was allocated for its implementation.

The program aims to curb hunger of poverty-stricken families in the city amid the COVID-19 crisis.

Each food box contains three kilos of rice, 16 pieces of canned goods, and eight sachets of coffee.
