GOSSIP GIRL: Controversial movie 'Tililing' inspired by director's aunt in mental institution

The Viva Films movie "Tililing" and its creator Daryl Yap of Vincentiments have received so much bashing  from netizens.

But maybe before we make our judgments let us hear why the writer and director created this movie. “I wrote 'Tililing' after visiting my aunt in a mental institution. I was traumatized and I felt a strong passion to write a movie about people suffering from mental illness.

Ako po ay isang baliw in its very essence at lahat tayo ay nakaranas ng kabaliwan in our lives.

Daryl Yap

"(This movie is for those who got depressed and who are presently depressed. This movie is an actualization that everyone is equal not in the context of rich and poor but in the context that everyone passes through trials and tribulations. I believe that even if you are successful, or kind, or beautiful, or rich, we all have experienced a point in our lives that we have felt so tired, too tired even that we feel empty or we have reached the last fire of our candle. For me, there is no special person that has never ever in his or her existence experienced being lied to, pushed to the edge of the cliff (metaphorically), has had a traitor in their lives, or was jilted in love or has been called names by friends or society per se. I am a crazy person in its very essence but we all experience craziness in our lives. Unfortunately there are people that cannot recover from this mental state and this movie is proof of their struggles. We all go through something. Unfortunately some people cannot move on and are left behind. Fortunately there are people that help them, carry them and even pull them out of their situation.)"

Watch this genre-bending movie in the VivaMax app, an online streaming application available in Google play and Apple app stores this March 5. It will also be open in cinemas in GCQ provinces starring Candy Pangilinan, Baron Geisler, Yumi Laxamana, Donnalyn Bartolome, Chad Kinis and Miss Gina Pareño.
