At home, Vice President Leni Robredo is more of a mother than being the country’s second-highest official. Even this has something to do with her three daughters’ suitors, if they have any.
It was through the last part of the interview with chef and television host Sharwin Tee on his vlog where she shared this for being a low-profile mother.
Tee asked Robredo while playing a game, dubbed as “VP Picks,” if her daughters’ suitors feel intimidated because she’s the vice president.
“Hay nako, wala naman. Sa bahay hindi ako vice president. Sa bahay nanay lang ako (Oh my. In the house, I’m not the vice president. I’m just a mother),” Robredo said.
The vice president is the widow of Jesse Robredo, an Interior and Local Government Secretary during the previous Aquino administration. They have three daughters—Aika, Tricia, and Jillian.
In the game, Robredo had to choose one among her favorite South Korean dramas and actors. She also talked about how her children have influenced her to become a fan of a particular K-drama.
The lady official shared that Doctors is a “family favorite” since they have watched it multiple times.
In fact, her daughters have repeatedly watched Episode 4 in particular because this was the first time the leads saw each other again after many years.
“Sa helipad dinala na pasyente. ‘Yun ang favorite scene nila at paulit-ulit nila yung pinapanood. So ako nainfluence ako ng mga anak ko so Doctors (They brought the patient to the helipad. That’s their favorite scene and they keep on watching it. So, for me, I was influenced by my daughters, so it’s Doctors),” she said when asked to pick between the Descendants of the Sun and Doctors.
Robredo was referring to a scene in Episode 4 wherein Yoo Hye-jung (Park Shin-hye) and Hong Ji-hong (Kim Rae-won) met again after 13 years.
The vice president also narrated how her youngest daughter, Jillian, changed her mind to become a fan of #TeamDosan starring Nam Joo-hyuk than #TeamGoodBoy’s Kim Sun-ho.
“From episode 1 yan si Dosan na gusto nya na. Nagtatalo kami kasi ako TeamGoodBoy. Later on, noong okay na si GoodBoy diba nun patapos siya okay na kaya okay na rin ako kay Dosan (From episode 1, she liked Dosan. We were arguing because I’m TeamGoodBoy. Later on, when GoodBoy was okay during the last episodes, I became okay with Dosan, too),” she said.
