NBI’s NCR office to probe PNP-PDEA ‘misencounter’


The National Bureau of Investigation’s (NBI) office in the National Capital Region (NCR) will lead the agency’s probe on the “misencounter” between the operatives of the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) last Wednesday night, Feb. 24, in Quezon City.

 NBI-NCR Director Cesar A. Bacani on Friday, Feb. 26, said the investigation is in compliance with the directive of Justice Secretary Menardo I. Guevarra.  He said he has started naming the members of the probe team.

The “misencounter” happened in front of a restaurant in Quezon City.  It resulted in the death of two policemen, one PDEA agent and one informant. Several law enforcement operatives were wounded.

Immediately after the incident, the PNP and PDEA created a board of inquiry.

The PNP said it has in its custody 10 policemen and seven PDEA agents who were involved in the incident.

 The Senate and the House of Representatives have also announced their separate investigations in aid of legislation.
