In six different raids, Malaysian authorities arrested 11 men they believe are members of Anonymous Malaysia in Pahang, Johor, Perak and the Klang Valley. The suspects are ages between 22 and 40.
Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani said the group is believed to be responsible for cyberattacks on websites belonging to the government and the private sector.
The suspects were also responsible for hacking the systems belonging to the Johor and Sabah state governments as well as the International Trade and Industry Ministry.
Hackers commonly deface websites to protest poor security of government websites, social and political injustice around the globe, spreading their message to a wider audience.
