The total number of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases in the country rose to 564,865 on Tuesday, Feb. 23.
This after the Department of Health (DOH) reported 1,414 new COVID-19 cases.
The latest case bulletin of the Health department also showed 72 new recoveries bringing the total number of recoveries to 522,941.
Total deaths is now at 12,107 with 16 new deaths.
"Five duplicates were removed from the total case count. Of these, two are recoveries," said DOH.
"Moreover, three cases previously tagged as deaths were reclassified as recoveries while three cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation," it added.
According to DOH, eight labs were not able to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System (CDRS) on Feb. 22, 2021.
Meanwhile, the DOH said the 62 cases of United Kingdom (UK) variant of COVID-19 have been detected in six regions.
Data released by the DOH revealed that returning overseas Filipinos (ROFs) comprised the most number of UK variant cases in the country with 30, followed by the Cordillera Administrative Region with 23, Davao Region with 3, Calabarzon with 2, National Capital Region with 1, Central Visayas with 1, Northern Mindanao with 1 and one arriving foreign national.
"Note that the case from Cebu also has travel history in NCR but the city’s epidemiology and surveillance unit has yet to determine if source of infection is Cebu or NCR," said DOH.
On Sunday, the DOH said it detected 18 additional B.1.1.7 variant (UK variant) cases bringing the country's total to 62.
