PSL beach volleyball unfurls in Subic


Local volleyball will finally spring back to action amid the COVID-19 pandemic as eight teams will compete in the 2021 Gatorade-Philippine Superliga Beach Volleyball Challenge Cup under a bubble concept in Subic on February 26 to 28. 

The tournament, which will be held in a sports bubble setup approved by the IATF through a resolution last year, will take place at the beach volleyball court used during the 30th Southeast Asian Games in 2019. 

Veteran beach volleyball players Bang Pineda and Jonah Sabete are set to play for one of the two Sta. Lucia Realtors teams. The other squad is composed of DM Demontano and Jackielyn Estoquia. 

Guest team Kennedy Solar Energy-PetroGazz is bannered by Ariane Alarcon and Christina Canares. 

F2 Logistics has Jenny Mar Senares and Kyla Angela Gallego, Toby's Sports has Jonah San Pedro and Javen Sabas even as United Auctioneers, Inc. has Ella Viray and Theresa Ramas. 

Rounding up the field are the two teams of Abanse Negrense featuring the duo of Alexa Polidario and Ejan Magdato and the pair of Jennifer Casas and Gelimae Villanueva. 

The teams are divided into two groups with F2 Logistics, PetroGazz, Sta. Lucia Realtors 2 (Pineda-Sabete) and Abanse Negrense 1 (Polidario-Magdato) in Pool A; and United Auctioneers, Abanse Negrense 2 (Casas-Villanueva), Sta. Lucia Realtors 1 (Demontano-Estoquia) and Toby's Sports in Pool B.
