Manila LGU extends financial aid to Parola Compound fire victims


Families affected by the fire that hit a residential area at Parola Compound in Tondo, Manila over the weekend will receive financial assistance of P10,000 each from the local government of Manila.

Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso approved the granting of cash assistance to fire victims on Monday (Feb. 22).

On Sunday (Feb. 22), a six-hour fire that reached the fourth alarm razed a residential area at Parola Compound. 

Five people, including four children, died in the fire while five others were injured. 

According to the Bureau of Fire Protection-National Capital Region (BFP-NCR), 600 families were rendered homeless while 300 houses were destroyed. 

The displaced families are temporarily sheltered at the P. Guevarra Elementary School, where modular tents were set up for them.
