BACOLOD CITY – The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) suspended all sea trips starting 5 p.m. last Saturday after this city and Negros Occidental were placed under storm signal No. 1 due to tropical storm “Auring” (international name “Dujuan”).
In a sea travel advisory issued by PCG provincial acting station commander Capt. Ludovico Librilla Jr., no vessel of any type or tonnage shall be allowed to sail when tropical storm warning signal No.1 is hoisted.
Librilla said that about 20 persons composed of helpers assigned in transporting rolling cargoes were stranded at the Bacolod Real Estate Development Corp. (Bredco) port here, but were advised to go home due to the cancellation of trips starting late Saturday afternoon.
Librilla said all fastcrafts have taken shelter at the Iloilo port for safety.
He said sea trips remain suspended until the tropical storm warning signal is lifted by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
Librilla said the PCG is currently on heightened alert, adding that their personnel is ready for deployment in case there is need for assistance.
