Butuan, Agusan del Sur rescuers on standby for ‘Auring’


BUTUAN CITY – Rescue teams from the Butuan City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (DRRMC) and Agusan del Sur DRRMC are closely monitoring the water level in the mighty Agusan River as tropical storm “Auring” unleashed heavy rains prior to its landfall Sunday.

Butuan City Mayor Engr. Ronnie Vicente Lagnada and Agusan del Sur Gov. Santiago Cane have ordered all their  rescue teams to be on standby for possible evacuation of all residents residing along the river.

The Butuan CDRRMO has already prepositioned non-food items consisting of 1,135 blankets; 963 plastic mats; 1,115 cooking pots; 7,536 plastic plates; 7,344 plastic drinking cups; 4,857 stainless steel utensils; and 1,467 family bags.

The city government also prepared an initial 2,000 family food packs.

The regional DRRMC continues to coordinate with the Department of Health (DOH) Caraga and local health offices for the strict implementation and observance of COVID-19 health protocols in evacuation centers.
