QC task force confiscates learning tablet from residents drinking in street

The Quezon City Task Force Disiplina (TFD) recovered a tablet distributed by the QC government from a group of residents drinking in the street at around 11:45 p.m. on February 14.

According to the report, the residents ran away after seeing the TFD and a tablet was left on the table which an “online sabong” was playing.

The tablet was distributed by the local government for Grade 7-12 public students for their blended learning activities.

“Sa gitna ng pandemya, ginawan natin ng paraan sa tulong ng Quezon City Council na magkaroon ng kanya-kanyang tablet ang mga estudyante para sa blended learning. Tumaya po tayo sa edukasyon ng mga bata, at hindi po ito dapat gamitin sa sugal o anumang iligal na gawain (In the middle of the pandemic, with the help of the Quezon City Council, we gave each student a tablet for blended learning. This is for the students, it should not be used in gambling or any illegal actions)," Quezon City Mayor Belmonte said.

Based on the QC Council Ordinance no. 2954- S-2020, only the student should use the tablet and must only be used for learning purposes only. Downloading of games or movies is strictly prohibited and the parent of the student will be included in the sanction.

Selling or pawning of the tablet is also prohibited and a penalty of up to P5,000 will be fined to the person who is not entitled to the tablet.

The tablet was already turned over to the Mayor’s office and the gadget’s owner was already identified.
