Heart Evangelista recalls audition for blockbuster Hollywood flick

Though it was something worth sharing, Heart Evangelista didn't have the courage to talk about her tryout journey on the 2018 American romantic comedy film "Crazy Rich Asians" some years ago.

"That was fun. I actually did audition talaga," said Heart who talked about the memorable experience.

Heart said she she got a call during the last leg of the audition. "And I said sige na, might as well do it na."

She said she woke up to 20 missed calls from an agent based in Los Angeles asking her why she never answered the calls.

"'But they're like, who's this girl? So they're willing to take a break if you could email again the file so they could continue watching,'" recalled Heart who the conversation from the other end of the phone.

"So grabe naman! And they asked if I was available to shoot. Siyempre, of course!" she said.

Heart said she auditioned for Araminta's role, the heiress of Lee's billionaire hotel chain, being the only daughter of Annabelle Lee and her husband, Peter Lee.

But Heart said they never came back.

"Yeah. But you know, again, I became friends with Kevin (Kwan, novelist of 'Crazy Rich Asians) after that. So there's always a reason for everything!" she said. "Again, ayaw mo ng mangarap ng todo. Okay na kung ano man ang ibigay."

Heart said she is thankful she was considered for the movie.

"I mean, it was huge 'cause I've been working for 24 years tapos ngayon pa ako nagkaroon ng opportunity na ganito."

Asked why she didn't really talk much about it before? "No, kasi masakit."
