"Based on the number of eligible individuals from each sector, we are looking at the need for roughly 50,000 vaccinators for the vaccine deployment program for the priority population," DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said during the Laging Handa public briefing Wednesday, Feb. 17.

'Since December, we have already trained about 4,000 people. They are now the ones conducting the training to vaccinators on the ground, in different parts of the country," she added.

According to Vergeire, each vaccination team will be composed of six healthcare workers which include the vaccinator, the ones that will monitor the side effects, counselors, and registration.

"Based on our time and motion study, we can be able to vaccinate 100 individuals per day," she said.

Vergeire also revealed that there are already 186,562 healthcare workers in the master list of would be vaccinees as of Feb. 16.

"Most of these healthcare workers would comprise those from the eligible hospitals," she said.

Also in the list, Vergeire said are 1.4 million senior citizens, 3 million indigents, and 164,000 uniformed personnel.

The first batch of 117,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccines from the World Health Organisation-led COVAX Facility are expected to arrive in the country this month.
