Bretman Rock regrets not forgiving his late father

To add drama to the latest episode of “MTV’s Following: Bretman Rock,” the 22-year-old Filipino internet sensation revealed his late father's deeply held secret to sister Princess Mae.

In the video, Bretman recalled how he wasn't able to forgive his dad who passed away last year following a stroke.

He recalled how his dad texted him to say sorry but that he never bothered to reply.

"It was just all him saying sorry (and) I never replied... I never told him I forgave him."

But why was he so angry with his dad?

He related, "Growing up, I was the one that saw my dad basically cheating on my mom. I told my mom that my dad was cheating on her and so it's like it was my fault that my family's broken. So it's hard for me to forgive him when I couldn't even forgive myself."

He went on, "You know, in the Philippines, you can't get divorced. You can only get annulled. For my mom to (have the) right to bring me here, I had to go to court and remember the dates and like, relive images in my head. It was so traumatizing."

"I just want to keep like, just the good memories in my head with Dad and I feel like if I have pictures of him around I'll start remembering like the bad memories that I've been trying to get over."

In the end, he said, "He wasn't the best husband for my mom but my dad was a good dad. Growing up, he knew that I was gay, really young and he was always encouraging me to be who I was. He was my best friend and he protected me from the world."
