Manila cop is 31st COVID fatality in the PNP


A policeman assigned to the Manila Police District (MPD) was the 31st fatality of the Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19) in the Philippine National Police (PNP), a top police official said on Monday, Feb. 15.

PNP chief Gen. Debold Sinas said the 50-year old policeman was assigned to the MPD-District Investigation Division and was admitted and confined at the Metropolitan Hospital in Tondo on January 30 after showing symptoms of the COVID-19.

“He was tested and diagnosed as a confirmed case of severe COVID-19 the following day. He remained in the hospital until he passed on February 14,” said Sinas.

As of Sunday night, the PNP has a total of 10,270 confirmed cases of coronavirus infection, 481 of them are active cases.

“We would like to extend our sincerest condolences to the bereaved family and assure them of all PNP benefits and assistance due to the deceased personnel,” said Sinas.
