The situation surrounding Kai Sotto’s return to the United States is the least of coach Brian Shaw’s concern at the moment as he’s focused on the Ignite’s campaign in the NBA G League bubble.

Sotto is scheduled to fly back to the US Sunday evening and subsequently undergo a quarantine period in hopes of joining the latter part of the G League season inside the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Florida.

When asked about the 7-foot-3 cager’s return, Shaw said that it will be up to the Ignite’s higher-ups to deal with the matter.

“That will be something that will be determined by the people who are above my pay grade,” Shaw said, as quoted by various media outlets who took part in a media availability following the Ignite’s 113-105 win over Raptors 905.

“Right now, I’m just concerned about the guys that are here and coaching them and we’ll see what happens when we get to that point,” added Shaw.

Sotto skipped the start of the G League bubble after agreeing to reinforce Gilas Pilipinas in the third window of the FIBA Asia Cup Qualifiers.

He arrived in early-February and had been in quarantine for more than a week when Doha, Qatar opted out of hosting the matches due to an increase in COVID-19 cases.

But the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas stepped in and agreed to once again play host to two groups on a date that will be determined later.

Sotto, however, decided it would be best for him to head back to the US and rejoin the Ignite.
