The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) has identified 46 of its camps and facilities that would serve vaccination sites once the national government rolls out its vaccination program against the Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19).

Of these vaccination sites, AFP spokesman Maj. Gen. Edgard Arevalo said 30 of them were already accredited by the Department of Health (DOH) while the rest are still subject to inspection by government’s health officials.

“The Armed Forces of the Philippines is ready to support our vaccination program. In fact, our three support operations have already been lined up,” said Arevalo in an interview over dzBB.

The three support operations are the military’s support to the Philippine National Police in the delivery, transport and securing cold storage facilities and in the vaccination proper; the medical support operations which means that the military could provide medical manpower to the DOH; and the logistical support operations which means that the military could provide cold storage facilities that include the vaccination sites.

He said part of the support system is the use of military trucks, Air Force aircraft and Navy ships for the transportation of the vaccines.

“What is important now is that we were able to lay out the vaccine warehouses and the vaccine sites in order us to plot the time element of the requirement for transportation,” said Arevalo.

The PNP, for its part, has offered police camps and medical facilities for the storage of vaccines and the vaccination proper.
