PANDI, Bulacan -- The alleged leader of a gun-for-hire gang who is also involved in illegal drugs and gun-running was killed in a shootout early Friday morning.

Based on the report submitted to Col. Lawrence B. Cajipe, Bulacan police director, by the Chief of Bulacan Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Lt, Col. Luke P. Ventura, the slain suspect was identified as Rey De Luna.
Ventura said the Bulacan CIDG, together with the Pandi police, conducted a buy-bust operation. During the transaction, the suspect, upon noticing that he was dealing with police operatives, ran inside his house and fired at the policemen. A brief exchange of gunfight ensued that led to the death of De Luna.
Recovered from the suspect were two units of cal .38 revolvers, eight live ammunition for cal .38; one fired cartridge of cal .9mm, one fired cartridge of cal .38, and the buy-bust money.
