Parañaque City Mayor Edwin Olivarez announced that the city government, in coordination with the City School Board, has conducted pilot testing of WiFi modem at the Fourth Estate Elementary School in order for all homes within the school’s vicinity to get free internet connection.
Olivarez said once the modem booster for the internet is already operational, students within the vicinity of the said school will no longer face any problem with their internet connectivity they will be using for the blended learning.
He said the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic affects the students as they need to shift to the blended learning using their laptops, tablets, and other gadgets including WiFi connectivity.
The mayor added that internet connectivity in more than 42 campuses around the city had already been installed for the students' blended learning just in time before the school opening.
Olivarez made the announcement during the blessing and turnover of two new four-story buildings with 16 classrooms each at the Sto. Niño High School (SNHS) and Parañaque Science High School (PSHS) as part of Parañaque’s 23rd cityhood anniversary on February 13.
The mayor also said the local government is focusing on the students’ needs as the city aims to develop new generation of leaders who will continue to provide progress and development to Parañaque.
