"This is a positive signal for stakeholders and businesses heavily dependent on travel and tourism including hotels, restaurants and ground transport providers," the airline company said in a statement Wednesday, Feb. 11.

A majority of those who purchased the unlimited flight pass are out to redeem flights to leisure destinations such as Boracay, Bohol, and Cebu between February to April this year.

Meanwhile, business travelers and Authorized Persons Out of Residence (APORs) took advantage of the unli pass deal for their business travels across Visayas and Mindanao.

“AirAsia sees the road to recovery for various industries with the roll out of the immunization program. The support of the national government on the uniform travel requirements is a welcome development which will provide convenience amongst air travelers who are eyeing to restart their travel plans for 2021," AirAsia Philippines Spokesperson Steve Dailisan said.

"The success of flight redemption of AirAsia’s unlimited flight pass deal is a positive sign that people are regaining confidence in air travel. We hope this will be sustained to accelerate domestic economic activity as we encourage our guests to #RedyscoverthePhilippines," he added.

The increase in demand for air travel is also seen to improve with the approval of some local government units of the Saliva RT-PCR test, a cheaper alternative to the nasopharyngeal RT-PCR test.
