ILOILO CITY — The one-eyed male puppy dubbed as “Cyclops” will be preserved for posterity by the family who owned it in Tangalan town, Aklan province.

“We have him in a jar so he will be with us forever,” Amie de Martin told Manila Bulletin in an interview Tuesday, February 9.

The 43-year-old was the one who took the photo of the one-eyed mixed-breed puppy who died shortly after it was born past 10 p.m. of February 6.

“He could not breathe. He did not have a nose,” de Martin said.

Only Cyclops was different from the five other Aspin-Japanese Spitz mix puppies.

“All other five puppies are normal,” de Martin added.

She said that it is her 81-year-old mother Aquilina who loves dogs.

The de Martin family initially did not think the photos will go viral as they only wanted to share it with other friends and family of the rare puppy’s condition.
