It was Senate Majority Leader Juan Miguel Zubiri who announced the former mayor’s death during the Senate plenary session.

“Before we tackle other measures, we would like to just give our deepest, sincerest condolences to the family of Sen. Gordon for the passing of his dear brother, who was a very, very good friend of ours,” Zubiri said.

Gordon was former mayor of Olongapo from 2004 and 2013. He was also a former member of the House of Representatives for the 1st District of Zambales from 1995 to 2004.

Likewise, he also served as governor of the Board of Directors of the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) chapter in Olongapo.

“He was a classmate of ours in Congress. This is congressman Bong Gordon. Again, our deepest, sincerest condolences to the family of the Gordons,” Zubiri said.

Sen. Gordon, in turn, thanked the Senate for recognizing his brother’s accomplishments as a public servant.
