In a statement on Saturday, Feb. 6, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) said the river wall, which is part of the P96-million flood-control project, stretches along the Pulangi River in Purok 17-A.

The DPWH said the wall has a width of 17 meters and an elevation up to five meters from the lowest ground level.

“The areas near Pulangi River, considered a major tributary of Mindanao, are susceptible to flooding including residential and agricultural lands. The construction of riverwall offers peace of mind for people living in Barangay Poblacion”, said DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar.

The DPWH added that the river wall project includes "a ditch canal and a 2.25-meter concrete pavement which will serve as a walkway along the river."
