Davao City surpasses 12,000-mark in recorded COVID-19 cases


Davao City has surpassed the 12,000-mark of recorded cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) over the weekend after recording a total of 74 new cases.

Based on the Department of Health (DOH) Davao Center for Health Development's Regional Case Bulletins for Saturday and Sunday (Feb. 6 and Feb. 7), Davao City has recorded 52 and 22 new cases, respectively.

Davao City currently has a total of 12,071 recorded cases with 1,399 active cases. The region, meanwhile, has a total of 18,222 cases recorded, with 2,670 active cases.

Meanwhile, data also shows that Davao City has recorded a total of six deaths, including the five deaths recorded on Saturday and one death on Sunday. Davao City has the most number of deaths due to COVID-19 in the region with 573 deaths. The region has recorded a total of 737 deaths.

Davao City also recorded 144 recoveries in two days bringing the total number of recoveries to 10,099.

As of Sunday, the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) said its intensive care unit (ICU) beds for COVID-19 patients are currently utilized by 85.71 percent with 30 of its 35 ICU beds utilized.

Its ward beds, on the other hand, is 82.71 percent utilized with 287 beds out of the 347 ward beds occupied.
