Around 318 healthcare workers in Quezon City have completed a comprehensive training on deployment and management of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) vaccine led by the national government on Friday.
The training is about the basics of vaccines, storage and handling, monitoring patients after vaccines, setting up vaccination sites and coordinating with communities.
“We are grateful for the Department of Health (DOH) for working closely with us in the city. Our collective goal is to make sure that the city is fully ready once the vaccines arrive, and that we will have a seamless vaccine deployment to avoid any untoward incident and vaccine wastage,” said Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte.
According to the head of City Health Department (CHD), Dra. Esperanza Arias, they identified doctors and nurses as potential vaccinators who will receive training and assistance.
“Each batch will undergo 2 days of training to cover all areas of our vaccine deployment plan,” Arias said.
Volunteer vaccinators will also be screened and trained by the CHD.
“All volunteers are welcome as we need more hands on deck. They may express their interest and contact us via the official Facebook page of the City Health for this purpose,” Arias said.
The Quezon city government will start its vaccination program once allocated vaccine for the city arrives and it will be administered at the 24 vaccination sites assigned around the city.
