Caraga region records 95 new COVID-19 cases


BUTUAN CITY – Northeastern Mindanao, or the Caraga region, recorded 95 new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases, according to health authorities Monday, January 25.

The regional office of the Department of Health-Center for Health Development (DOH-CHD) based here said, of these new cases, 39 were from Agusan del Sur, 17 from Butuan City, 15 from Agusan del Norte, eight from Surigao del Sur, six from Surigao del Norte, five from Cabadbaran City, two each form the cities of Bayugan and Tandag, and one from Bislig City. 

Caraga region now has a total of 5,721 confirmed cases of COVID-19, with 684 active cases and 254 deaths.

With this new development, health authorities on appealed to Caraganons to continue to adhere to all health protocols as the number of infections from the deadly virus continued to rise in Caraga region, particularly in Agusan del Sur province.

The DOH-CHD also reported on Saturday night that Caraga region has also recorded 4,783 recoveries.

According to the medical status of patients, the DOH-CHD said one was severe, 25 have mild symptoms and 69 were asymptomatic.

Among the latest cases, 74 were all local transmission cases, nine had travel history from areas with local transmission, and 12 with no history of travel to an area with known local transmission or exposure to COVID-19.

Among those infected, 50 were female, 45 were male, with the youngest at eight years old and the oldest at 74 years old.
