7,729 patients recover from COVID-19; cases up by 1,949


There were 7,729 more patients who have recovered from the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), bringing the nationwide total count to 475,612.

In its case update released Sunday, the Department of Health (DOH) said that the overall recovery tally represents 92.6 percent of the country's total number of confirmed cases, which currently stood at 513,619. 

There were 1,949 new people who got infected with coronavirus, pushing the active cases to 27,765. The agency also reported that the death count increased to 10,242 with 53 new fatalities. 

Of the active cases, 83.3 percent have mild symptoms, 9.1 percent are asymptomatic, 4.4 percent are in critical condition, 2.7 percent are severe, and 0.53 have moderate symptoms.

Davao City had the most number of new infections with 99, followed by Quezon City with 98; Cavite with 74; Baguio City with 73; and Leyte with 63.

“Eight duplicates were removed from the total case count. Of these, one recovered case and one death have been removed. In addition, one case was found to have tested negative and has been removed from the total case count,” the DOH said. 

“Moreover, two cases that were previously tagged as recovered were reclassified as deaths after final validation,” it added.
