3 Filipinos abroad recover from COVID-19 -- DFA


A lone report received by the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Sunday confirmed that three Filipinos in the Americas have recovered from COVID-19 (coronavirus disease 2019) infections.

To date, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases involving Filipinos abroad is 13,779;  total fatalities at 945, and total recoveries at 8,820. A total of 4,017 overseas Filipinos are still undergoing treatment as per the DFA’s latest tally.  

The Middle East and Africa remain as the combined regions with the most numbers in all categories, namely confirmed cases at 7,847; recovered and discharged from hospitals, 4,752; undergoing treatment, 2,489, and death due to COVID-19 at 605. 

“The DFA remains fully committed to monitoring the situation of overseas Filipinos who are affected by the pandemic and remains steadfast in promoting and protecting their welfare,” the department said in a statement.

Meanwhile, the DFA announced that its Consular Office in General Santos City will be closed on Monday, 25 January 2021 for disinfection of its premises and implementation of other preventive measures to manage risks against COVID-19.

The Consular Office in General Santos will resume its regular operations on January 26, 2021.
