Three Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries’ Organizations (ARBO) in Zambales were chosen by the Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP) as the recipient of the marketing projects geared at raising their income, enhancing economic activities, and spurring rural development, theDepartment of Agrarian Reform (DAR) said Sunday.
DAR Zambales provincial agrarian reform program officer Engr. Eric T. San Luis identified the recipient ARBOs as the Sta. Cruz Mango Growers Multi-Purpose Cooperative, the Amungan Farmers Multi-Purpose Cooperative, and the San Marcelino Corn Producers Cooperative.
San Luis explained that the projects would include the establishment of two mango trading stations, one in Sta. Cruz for the Sta. Cruz Mango Growers MPC and the other in Iba for the Amungan Farmers MPC.
He noted that a cattle breeding farm would be put for the San Marcelino Corn Producers Cooperative in San Marcelino, Zambales.
San Luis stressed the projects would “provide the three ARBOs marketing outlets for their produce to encourage them to enhance their productivity, increase the income of their respective members, and promote development of the province.’’
The PRDP is pursuing the projects, in partnership with the Zambales provincial government and the private sector, to ease the burden of the farmers, who badly needed marketing avenues for their harvests.
DAR said the projects are being implemented in conformity with the local government’s platform for a modern, climate-smart and market-oriented agri-fishery sector.
Under the project, the PRDP would provide the key infrastructure, facilities, technology, and information with the end in view of raising household income, productivity, and competitiveness of farmers and fisherfolk in the province.
Zambales Gov. Hermogenes E. Ebdane Jr. cited the PRDP and the DAR “for taking into consideration the economic well-being of his farmer-constituents.”
