Called the “2021 Smuggling Prevention Techniques,” the virtual seminar series started last January 19 with the topic: “Profiling and Baggage Search Techniques in Passenger Area,” followed by the "Intensified Border Protection Techniques in Warehouses” on January 21.

The seminars were attended by more than 100 participants, and will continue throughout the year to tackle various topics on border protection.

Collector Carmelita Talusan said the virtual seminar series is part of BOC-NAIA’s border protection plans and initiatives to complement its accomplishments in 2020. The efforts last year resulted in the interception and seizure of illegal goods with an estimated aggregate value of P1.79 billion.

This year’s campaign started with the arrest of claimants of ecstasy last January 8; and Kush hi-grade marijuana the following day.
