K-pop groups ENHYPEN, STAYC top rookie album sales in second half of 2020

K-pop groups ENHYPEN and STAYC placed first in album sales among rookies that debuted in the second half of 2020.

Korea’s Hanteo Chart released the official album sales ranking for rookies in the second half of 2020 and ENHYPEN topped the male rookie artists and STAYC in the female rookie category. The period covered is from July 1 to Dec. 31, 2020 and based on sales of a single album released during the time.

ENHYPEN debuted on Nov. 30 last year with the album “Border: Day One.” Hanteo Chart said the album garnered total sales of 312,723 copies in the second half of the year to place first among male artists who debuted in the second half of 2020.

“Border: Day One” topped the daily album chart for Nov. 30 and went on to sell 280,873 copies in the first week of release. It placed No. 24 on Hanteo’s yearly album chart for 2020.

Hanteo noted that ENHYPEN is the only artist that sold more than 280,000 copies of an album in the first week of release among rookies that made their debut in 2020.

Boy band Treasure grabbed the second, third and fourth places in the ranking. Hanteo said Treasure’s “The First Step: Chapter Three” sold 196,936 copies in 2020 to place second followed by “The First Step: Chapter Two” with 191,381 copies and “The First Step: Chapter One” with 185,801 copies.

STAYC sold 21,909 copies of “Star To A Young Culture” to place first in album sales among female rookies that debuted in the second half of 2020.
The album was released on Nov. 12 last year and sold 10,295 copies in the first week. STAYC is composed of six members: Isa, Seeun, Sumin, Sieun, Yoon and J.
