After three years, actress Ellen Adarna is making a comeback via the TV5 sitcom "John En Ellen" which begins airing on Sunday, Jan. 24. It is produced by Cignal Entertainment.
"I'm kinda nervous. When I met them, it doesn't feel like work at all kasi masaya," said Adarna when asked about how she felt in her showbiz comeback during a virtual interview for the media-con of the new sitcom.
Adarna said that it wasn't easy accepting showbiz offers because she is focused in raising her son Elias (her child by John Lloyd Cruz) these days.
"Ang problem ko talaga in accepting roles is timing. Nagkataon na it's time for my son to come here (in Manila) for one month when it was offered to me. Wala naman akong gagawin so I accepted it," she said.
Adarna and Cruz have separated as a couple although things are better now between the two. "Because I had so many issues na hindi pa na-resolve, I was projecting it on him."
Asked about her message for Cruz, Adarna said: "I think I'll just text him if I have a message."
And her message to suitors? Adarna laughed and remarked: "Give your best shot!"
In terms of acting, Adarna admitted that it's difficult to make people laugh than to make viewers cry.
The show will also spotlight a new side of Adarna as she will be portraying a motherly role.
"John En Ellen" is top-billed by John Estrada and Adarna, who will portray the show’s titular couple. It follows the story of John Lennon Kulantong (John Estrada) and his wife Ellen Kulantong (Ellen Adarna), who beat the odds together and live out their promise to stay together “through thick and thin” despite the countless obstacles they have to deal with as a couple.
Completing the show’s powerhouse cast are veteran actor Ronaldo Valdez as Don Lucky dela Suerte, Ellen’s big shot father who disapproves of John for his daughter; Long Mejia as Ynigo Tange, Don Lucky’s mischievous chief assistant; Haiza Madrid as Mimi, Don Lucky’s trusted nurse; and former child actor Yogo Singh and recording artist Angelina Cruz as John and Ellen’s children Valentino Kulantong and Camille Kulantong.
