South Korean fugitive arrested by BI

Bureau of Immigration (BI) operatives have arrested a South Korean wanted by his government for operating an online prostitution advertising site.

BI Commissioner Jaime Morente said  Seo Jungnam, 41, was apprehended  in Amor Riverside Anunas, Angeles City, Pampanga by operatives of the BI’s fugitive search unit (FSU).

South Korean policemen have participated in the arrest of the fugitive based on a red notice issued by the Interpol last month.

According to FSU chief Bobby Raquepo,  Seo has been in the country since 2015, and is a suspect in a sexual exploitation and prostitution case in Korea for allegedly placing prostitution advertisements online.

An arrest warrant was issued against him by the Uijeongbu District Court in Korea in 2018.

Raquepo said Seo and his cohorts earned more than 32 million Korean won, or P1.3 million by operating the online prostitution site under the name Playboy.

“We received information from our Korean counterparts that Seo’s passport is also undergoing revocation, making him an undocumented alien,” Raquepo shared.

The suspect is now detained at the BI’s warden facility in Taguig pending deportation.
