Pasay, Las Piñas LGUs extend payment deadline for business tax

An ordinance extending the deadline for the payment of business taxes in Pasay City until February 5, without incurring any interest, surcharge or any form of penalty, was approved on January 18, Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano said.

According to Mayor Rubiano, the extension of business tax payment was made as the city government acknowledges the importance of the business sector especially the micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) as the backbone of the local economy and their need of government support to recover from the impact of COVID-19 pandemic.

The city government also launched on December 7 its online system for renewal of business permits which will also be available for new business applications.

Rubiano explained the system or app, dubbed as Pasay E-Business Go Live, enables contactless processing of permits to lessen person-to-person transactions between city hall employees and citizens processing their permits which is seen as potential means of spreading the coronavirus.

Rubiano also said that it will likewise minimize the number of people coming to City Hall as the renewal of the business permit can already be accomplished online.

In Las Piñas, the city government made an announcement to extend the deadline of payment for business taxes until January 30.

City Administrator Rey Balagulan said that Mayor Imelda Aguilar has ordered to give business taxpayers an extension to pay their taxes since the country is just starting to recover from the impact of COVID-19 pandemic.
