DFA tally: 19 new COVID-19 cases among Filipinos abroad


The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Wednesday announced 19 new confirmed cases and three new fatalities due to COVID-19 (coronavirus disease 2019) among Filipinos in the Americas, Europe, and the Middle East and Africa.

The Department also reported 61 new recoveries among Filipino nationals in the same regions mentioned.  

This brings the total number of COVID-19 cases involving overseas Filipinos to 13,642 since the outbreak began in February, 2020. 

Of the total confirmed cases, 8,745 have recovered, 3,935 remain under treatment and 944 perished due to COVID-19 infections. 

Meanwhile, the DFA suspended the operations of its Consular Office in Tuguegarao, Cagayan from January 20-29, 2021 after the entire City of Tuguegarao was placed under Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ).

The Consular Office in Tuguegarao will resume its regular operations on Monday, February 1, 2021.
