Hadjizy shines as Omega crushes Malaysia's Todak in world championship

Smart Omega opened its M2 Mobile Legends World Championship campaign with a bang, crushing Malaysian powerhouse Todak, 2-0, in the opening match on Monday at the Shangri-La Hotel Singapore.

Omega executed its rotation to perfection while leaning on KDA machine Salic "Hadjizy" Imam's Yi Sun-shin in two games for a winning start in Group B.

With the sweep, the MPL-Philippines Season 6 runner-up moved on the cusp of securing an upper bracket spot.

Another series win over Impunity KH of Cambodia later at 6 p.m. will tow the boys of coach Steven "DaleDalus" Vitug to the winner's bracket.

Hadjizy's YSS and EJ "Heath" Esperanza's Jawhead fueled Omega's 4-for-1 exchange in the seventh minute of Game 1 that resulted in a mid tower and free turtle take.

It was all Omega from there as the Filipino squad got the Lord kill in the 10th minute to seal a lopsided 20-3 victory in just 11 minutes.

Hadjizy came through with a 8-1-9 kill-death-assist record while Heath went perfect with a kill and 11 assists.

SEA Games gold medalist Kenneth Jiane "Kenji" Villa started in place of sidelaner Adrian "Toshi" Bacallo and played stellar on his Ruby, finishing with two kills and nine assists against zero deaths.

The boys in green and blue needed to overcome Todak's early advantage in Game 2 where the Malaysians were able to hit the first Lord kill.

With a late-game heavy lineup led by Hadjizy's YSS and Jankurt "KurtTzy" Matira's Wanwan, the Smart-backed squad clawed its way back and slayed the enhanced Lord en route to a 20-11 win.

Hadjizy uncorked a 9-1-5 record even as KurtTzy tallied 7-2-6. Jeniel "Haze" Bata-anon, another SEA Games gold winner, also shone on his midlane Silvanna with a 3-3-11 slate.
