Labella warns Cebu hotels vs private parties

CEBU CITY— Hotels and other accommodation establishments here were warned to strictly prohibit private parties inside their rooms.

City Mayor Edgardo Labella has issued Executive Order (EO) No. 115 that prohibits the holding of parties in their rooms.

The issuance of the EO came on the heels of the death of flight attendant Christine Dacera whose body was found in a hotel room in Makati City.

Dacera and her group held a year-end party before she was found dead.

“We don’t want that to happen here,” said Labella. “If there are parties, it should be held in the function rooms, not inside the hotel rooms.”

Labella added that visitors should not be allowed beyond 8 p.m. and only a certain number of people will be allowed inside the rooms.

The number of people that will be allowed in rooms will depend on its floor area.

While parties are approved to be held in functions rooms, only 50 percent of the capacity will be allowed.

The compliance to the EO will be strictly monitored by the city’s Commission on Tourism, Labella said.

Any violation of the EO may lead to the cancellation of business permits.(
