NAIA’s Task Force facing challenges in accomodating returning Pinoys

The NAIA Inter Agency Task Force is facing challenges in facilitating arriving Overseas Filipino Workers and Non-OFWs due to lack of quarantine facilities.

NAIA terminal 2, Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Commander Edyson Abanilla said, the quarantine facilities is now limited due to the influx of repatriated OFW coming from 33 Countries.

Earlier, the government imposed a travel ban on travelers from the United Kingdom, Denmark, Ireland, Japan, Australia, Israel, The Netherlands, Hong Kong SAR, Switzerland, France, Germany, Iceland, Italy, Lebanon, Singapore, Sweden, South Korea, South Africa, Canada, Spain, and the United States.

Later included were Portugal, India, Finland, Norway, Jordan, Brazil,Austria and Oman.

The travel restriction for aliens arriving from these countries is in effect until January 15.

Some of the government quarantine areas are now in full capacity especially in New Clark City in Pampanga, Batangas and Tagaytay in Cavite area

In Metro Manila, only Sogo and Nice motel are two approved quarantine facilities and are under Oplan Kalinga Center which provides these facilitiesto returning OFWs for free.

OFW’s arriving in Manila have the option of entering other hotels approved as quarantine facilities but would have to shoulder the cost.
