The Manila City government will implement an identification system to record who among the city's residents have been vaccinated against the coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19).
The City of Manila COVID-19 Vaccination ID can be accessed by residents on a website, regardless of what device they use.
It shows one's name, birthdate, barangay, date registered, a photo, and a QR code. It also has a table showing when one received his or her first and second COVID-19 dose, when it will expire, and the chosen vaccine brand.
Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso said this new ID will be one's "passport to the world" in the new normal.
"'Yan ang magiging ID nila sa trabaho, sa domestic travel, at sa international travel (This will be their ID at work, for domestic travel, and international travel)," he said in an interview with CNN Philippines on Wednesday.
"Malalaman ng nagsisiyasat sa kanila na sila ay nabakunahan na (Through this, people inspecting them will see that they are already vaccinated)," he added.
Residents who will get their COVID-19 Vaccination ID need not worry if they lose their physical copies because soft copies can be saved to their phones. It can also be repeatedly accessed on the website.
