6th Wish Music Awards to recognize top OPM acts

On Jan. 17, the much-anticipated 6th Wish 107.5 Music Awards (WMA) will recognize the top Wishclusive performances, songs, and Filipino musical acts in the country.

Being the first WMA in the new normal, the event will be held at the Smart Araneta Coliseum strictly for invited guests only — official nominees, performers, hosts, label representatives, and event organizers — and will not be open to the public. All invited guests at the on-site venue will be required to undergo Covid-19 testing and to strictly adhere to health and safety protocols.

Despite the venue not being open to the public this year, Wishers from different parts of the world can watch the livestream on Sunday via Wish 107.5’s official YouTube channel

The premier awards show will feature performances from top acts including Asia’s Soul Supreme KZ Tandingan, hip-hop phenomenon Gloc-9, P-Pop breakthrough SB19, iconic OPM band Parokya ni Edgar, rising rapper Michael Pacquiao, singer-songwriters Clara Benin, Leanne & Naara, Reese Lansangan, Keiko Necesario, pop band Music Hero, vocal group The Wishfuls, and Australian singer-songwriter Guy Sebastian.

Gretchen Ho and Christian Bautista will return as the awards show hosts.

As in previous years, charity is a major part of the WMAs. On top of winning an iconic WMA trophy and a cash prize of P25,000, WMA winners will be given the opportunity to donate P100,000 to a charitable organization of their choice.

This year, two awards named after the man behind Wish 107.5, Kuya Daniel Razon, will once again be given to music industry luminaries.

The KDR Icon of Musical Excellence Award will be given to a notable name in the industry who has left a lasting impact on the country’s music scene, while the KDR Icon of Music and Philanthropy Award aims to give nod to an individual or a group that uses music as an instrument to spread hope and compassion to the lives of others.
