After introducing their newborn Jude Trevor last Jan. 5, Janella Salvador and Markus Paterson opened up on how and when they first learned that they are expecting a baby.

In a Star Magic exclusive live stream hosted by actress Maja Salvador, Salvador recalled that this happened in Feb. 2020 while she and Paterson were in Boracay Island.
"We were there for a random trip," Salvador recalled. "I took two tests there and when I found out, I told him, 'It's positive.' We were nervous back then but at the same time, we couldn't stop smiling. I was so happy, I couldn't explain it."
While delighted, they decided not to divulge it to anyone, except to close friends and family.
"When we were at Boracay, we were actually with his manager, kuya Allan Altera," Salvador said. "He was asleep when I took it, so we were thinking, ‘Should we wake him up?' But we told him the news when he woke up because he might have a heart attack."
The 22-year-old actress said she stayed entirely at home when she was pregnant during the course of the lockdown. In Oct. 2020, she, along with her mother Jenine Desiderio and her brother Russell, then traveled to meet Paterson in the UK to give birth.
"It didn't sink in in to me for the first few months. It was difficult to adjust especially that I was locked up at home because I didn't want to be seen," she said. "I am grateful for Markus because he guided me throughout my journey."
