A magnitude 5.3 earthquake hit Ilocos Norte Tuesday night, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS).
The earthquake, which occurred at 9:38 p.m., was tectonic in origin and was traced 68 kilometers northwest of Burgos, Ilocos Norte.
The quake had a depth of 33 kilometers.
There were no immediate details on damages but aftershocks are expected from the tremor.
