Man shot dead by uncle in La Union


SUDIPEN, La Union – An argument over a deep well in the family compound led to the killing of a 45-year-old construction worker by his uncle in Barangay San Francisco Sur here on Monday, January 11.

The victim was identified as Ereneo Arciaga, 45, while the suspect was Eliseo Arciaga, 78, both residents of Barangay San Francisco Sur.

According to Sudipen Chief of Police Capt. Crecencio Abila, Jr. said the suspect went to the victim’s house seeking an explanation why the deep well gate valve was moved as this weakened water flow in his house.

But in the middle of the argument, Ereneo allegedly harmed his uncle, who drew a gun and shot him.

The victim was dead on-arrival at the Ilocos Training and Regional Medical Center due to a gunshot wound in the head.

The suspect is now in police custody while prepares a murder case against him.

 Abila said the suspect told the police that he only acted on self-defense.

It was also learned that that the two already figured in a dispute before.
