Davao region records 460 new cases, 13 deaths due to COVID-19


DAVAO CITY - A total of 460 new cases, 108 recoveries and 13 deaths due to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) were recorded in Davao region over the weekend. 

Based on the Regional Daily Case Bulletin of the Department of Health (DOH) Davao, 229 new cases were recorded on Saturday, January 9, while 231 new cases were recorded the next day.

As of Sunday, January 10, the region has recorded a total of 13,927 COVID-19 cases with 2,132 active cases. 

Record shows that 71.2 percent of the active cases, or a total of 1,518, were asymptomatic, 23.4 percent or 499 were mild cases, and 5.4 percent or 115 were severe cases. There was no critical case. 

In the region, Davao City still has the most number of active cases with 1,315, followed by Davao del Norte with 457; Davao del Sur with 165; Davao de Oro with 145; Davao Oriental with 41; and Davao Occidental with nine. 

The DOH data also showed that there were 28.3 percent, or 60 beds, still unoccupied in COVID-19 intensive care units (ICUs) beds, while 44.8 percent or 505 ward beds were still available. 

Meanwhile, nine deaths were also recorded in Davao City over the weekend, with three in Davao de Oro and one in Davao del Norte.
